Celebrating...

Well,  Christmas has come and went, and now time for the New Year.

It has been an amazing few months. Not only did I attain MCPD (Microsoft Certified Professional Developer), but I also got my MSTS (Microsoft Certified Techincal Specialist) in SharePoint 2007, and the other day attained my MBSCP (Microsoft Business Solutions Certified Professional) in Dynamics CRM. I also attained the core MCP exam for SQL Server 2005, leaving me two exams left to attain MSITP-DBA (Microsoft Certified IT Professional - Database Administrator).

All this while meeting business commitments, consulting onsite full-time with my enterprise clients, dealing with my four lovely kids and stuff such as basketball games, soccer practices, cub scouts and a slew of parties.  Plus my weekly league competitions (albeit I'm in 9th place overall right now.)

Such a deal. I'm proud of myself, thankful to my wife and family, and above all happy to have my relationship with Him on a steady course!
Bonuses have been a new vehicle,  great new friends, a pretty nice place to live, and it just keep getting better.

2008 will be an even more amazing time for sure :)

Issue installing Windows Server 2008 RC0

I created a new VPC image in Virtual Server 2007 today, and created two virtual HD's for it.
(I like to put data on it's own volume from the base OS.)
I then proceeded to install Windows Server 2008 RC0 Enterprise Edition (Full not Core) and I hit a small roadblock:

After scratching my head as to why it said "This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu."  I tried to create new partition and format them on the two disks.  Um, yeah, no: That didn't work.

I restarted the install and doubled-checked the Virtual PC's BIOS.  It was set to boot from Floppy first, so I set that to HD0, and disabled the PXE boot as the fourth option, just to be safe.   As it turns out, I must have clicked the prior screen's Custom button twice, since the install proceeded normally and I was good to go. intall02
Ho-hum... now for Visual Studio 2008 Team Suite once I get through it all.

My goal is to get a 2008 VPC setup with SQL Server 2008 CTP5, 2008 VSTS, SharePoit Server 2007 and CRM 4.0 on it with all my dev stuff (ReSharper/Snippet Compiler/Reflector/etc.) to play with.

Wish me luck.  :)
